PTO MEMBERSHIP FORM

_____________Lincoln Legacy ($5.00) As a member of the Lincoln Legacy, membership is $5.00 per family but with it comes the hard work, dedication and sweat equity that Abe himself possessed. We love members of the Lincoln Legacy because they are always present in the school whether it is leading a fundraiser, shelving books, working the “dragon cart”, volunteering in a classroom, planting flowers, painting sets, or making copies, etc...

_____________Ben Franklin Club ($25.00) Ben Franklin coined the phrase, “Time is Money” and for so many of us this is true. We teach the children at an early age the concept of opportunity cost at SDSA and for many of our busy parents it is a daily struggle to “fit it all in” a 24 time period. The Ben Franklin membership is for you if you recognize that you may not have the time necessary to devote to the school/PTO but would like to make a contribution of $25.00 to help off set the many projects that are currently underway at SDSA.

______________SDSA Grant ($50.00) It may be Ulysses S. Grant on the front of a fifty dollar bill but it is his last name that drives this level of membership. A grant is an opportunity to be able to gain something that one otherwise may have done without. Being an SDSA grant member does just that; it gives the SDSA PTO an opportunity to grant the children at SDSA more technology, an outside performing group, an artist in residence, or for some a chance to go on a field trip that their family may not be able to afford.

______________Carnegie Creators ($75.00 and Beyond) – Andrew Carnegie is one of the largest philanthropist in our history. He created his empire and his vision during the Gilded Age (this year’s theme). His spirit lives on in the many programs, institutions and foundations he created. SDSA’s Carnegie Creators is an opportunity to share in the mission of the school, which is to promote “learning through the arts.” With your generous contribution to the SDSA PTO, you help foster a love of music, dance, theater, art and the humanities in young children. As a thank you for your generous contribution we would like to place your family’s name, child’s name or your place of business on the Annual SDSA 5K Race t-shirt. Please indicate what you would like on the t-shirt below.

PTO MEMBERSHIP-Please select one of the following options. Remember that SDSA's PTO is a critical part of the SDSA community. Each year the PTO provides new technology, funds arts initiatives, purchases classroom supplies, helps provide assistance for field trips, sponsors family activities, beautifies the school and makes your child's experience a rewarding one at SDSA. Please choose the level of membership that best fits your family. Make checks payable to SDSA PTO. All levels of membership make a family eligible for Lincoln Legacy status. WE LOVE OUR LINCOLN LEGACY!

PTO Meeting – November 10th, 2009

Those in attendance: Principal Neil Beahan, PTO Co-Presidents Stephanie Staib and Nikky Fisher, Treasurer Jen Willey.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Minutes from the October meeting were approved.

Fund Requests

· Becky Mott Lynn had submitted a request for $100. Treasurer Jen Willey agreed to use the miscellaneous fund line item to cover the request. Principal Neil Beahan made the motion to approve and the officers in attendance all seconded the motion.

· It was agreed (post meeting via e-mail) to cover the remaining cost to purchase three sound shells. The PTO had originally budgeted $2,500 toward that purchase, but agreed to cover an additional $904.26 to supplement the funds already raised by the music department.

Fundraisers

· The Yankee Candle fundraiser generated $6,400 in profit.

· Reminders to parents to register their grocery cards with participating stores (Food Lion, Giant, Harris Teeter, Super G, Giant.) will be sent.

· Art-Wear by You Fundraiser was approved and will occur in the spring 2010.

· It was mentioned to do a “Basket Bingo” in combination with another fundraiser.

Other Items Discussed:

· Stephanie is still trying to find someone to repair the popcorn machine. It is estimated that the cost of the repair will be around $150.

· American Education Week was discussed. Nikky agreed to coordinate with Nancy Crass, owner of Kool Beans, to arrange for special treats for the SDSA staff during that week.

The next PTO meeting is scheduled for January 12th, at 7:00 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
Nikky Fisher, PTO Co-President
